Kelly Johner
Born in Alberta, Canada, Kelly has resided in the rural countryside for much of her life. Her farm north of Edmonton serves as source of both inspiration and materials that have shaped the evolution of her artwork. The relationships connecting women, agriculture and the natural environment are key aspects consistently explored in her work. Kelly studied at MacEwan University and the University of Alberta, receiving her MFA in Sculpture in 2007. She has since devoted her time to developing her sculptures and drawings, teaching at the University of Alberta, working as a Research Assistant and volunteering as a carver, painter and designer for Fort Edmonton Park’s historic carousel projects. Kelly has shown her work in local and provincial shows in Alberta, British Columbia and most recently in Italy. She has work in various permanent collections.
